Johnstown Lady Jets
The Lady Jets invite you to join them for their "Girls Only" developmental hockey team. This is a new program for girls ages 5-18 that will focus mainly on development of on-ice hockey skills and team building concepts for the 2013-14 season.
The season will start in mid-October and will run through the end of March. The cost of the program and format of the program (i.e. games, jamborees and practices will be determined based on the number of girls participating.

Girls First Practice
The Lady Jets program is now underway!!! The girls hit the ice Sunday night.

The Johnstown Jets are extremely proud to introduce a new program designed just for girls. Starting in February, the LADY JETS are coming to Planet Ice and will establish the first ever girls hockey program of the area. The purpose of this program is purely developmental. Each practices will cover the basic fundamentals of the game. While the immediate focus is hockey development for existing players, the LADY JETS will also be launching initiatives designed to get new girls into the sport. As numbers grow, the program will eventually evolve into girls teams who will participate against other girls teams around the region. The program will focus on skill development, friendship, sportsmanship and most of all fun!
Program Details
The LADY JETS program focuses on developing the hockey skills of girls between the ages of 4 through 16. These skills are taught by coaches that will emphasize proper skating techniques and the basic fundamentals of hockey.
Program Levels
The girls will be grouped with players of the same level. Any new player can join the LADY JETS program at any time. The girls do not have to have completed the previous level of skill or have played recreational or competitive hockey previously. The coaches will divide the girls into 3 levels according to their age and experience and will determine at what point the girls are ready to move up to the next level.
LEVEL 1 - Initiation & Beginners
Level 1 is for girls with little or no experience. This group will emphasize skating techniques and proper hockey stance. The coaches’ main focus will be on having fun playing the game, general knowledge of hockey and basic skills including skating, stopping, stick / puck handling, and game rules. Perfect level for girls coming from the Little Pens program.
LEVEL 2 - U12
The U12 level reviews and builds upon the basic skills acquired by Level 1 players. New skills are added to advance player’s knowledge of skating skills including turning, shooting and passing, and stick / puck handling.
LEVEL 3 - U16
The U16 level is a more advanced level. It will focus are skating skills including edge control, competitive hockey strategies, stick / puck handling as well as working with teammates on scoring tactics.
FREE TRY
Would you like to try hockey but you are unsure? No worries. We invite you to step on the ice and join the LADY JETS for a free practice. No experience or equipment necessary. We will supply the skates, the gloves, the helmet, the stick, the jersey and some basic equipment to get you ready! Whether you're a beginner or have experience skating, come out and have some fun with the gang!
To participate in the free practice, please fill out the registration form and pick a desired practice date. Arrive 30-45 mins. before practice to get fitted. Please dress warm, wear sweat pants and a warm sweater. Once you submit your registration. The Lady Jets coaches will contact you.
